The miners were freed 2 hours ago! They walked out on their own 2 feet.

Their cage was 1.2 meters (about 4.5 feet) by 1.2 meteres. When one rolled over the other one had to as well. That was their prison for 2 weeks....1km underground!

Yeah, good stuff. Last I heard about this story was when the rescue team only had 1 metre of rock to get through. Glad it had a happy ending.

I know what it is like to go underground...! It is dark, dirty and wet. But the comraderie in the silence is incredible.

These guys could have easily lost their lives....but they egged on their rescuers to keep them going. Miners are a family...no matter where they are in the world.

I heard (on the radio) that one of the things they had sent down that pipe was a newspaper ... so they could read the want-ads ... for new jobs ... : )

Yes....they have stated they are no longer going underground. They did request hot chips and gravy as their first meal....but they were denied...but soon they will help themselves. They have hugged their family....but have requested a shower so they can clean up before they are reunited properly.

They are insistent on attending their mates funeral this afternoon. His funeral was held off for these guys...but they had to go ahead and make plans to bury him today....and today...the two guys were freed...they can make it to the funeral.

Dang, I thought this was a post about some cool lenses or other equipment.

Well, I am glad that they got out and I do remember the tragic screw up the last time - I went to bed that night on reports that they were all alive and I told my son "wouldn't it suck if they're reports were wrong?" Woke up the next morning to find out the real news. :(

Very glad this had a good ending for most.

Woke up to the news this morning. My kids and I were so happy. My husband worked underground for the last three years before we moved home. I worried every day. Two weeks is such a long time to be trapped. I'm over the moon for these guys and their families. :D

It's great news. I've worked underground and can appreciate how they'd have felt. The miner's lamps are good for maybe 18 hours of operation so they would have been in pitch darkness for at least three days. You just can't comprehend how dark true darkness is without experiencing it underground.

My hubby is an underground coal miner, and if that was him, he wouldn't have survived two days down there, ( he's a diabetic) so that really hit home to us also..!!

i loved how the minute they got out, they hung up their 'out' tags.... auto pilot or sheer NEVER going back under statement..!!!!

Yeah!! I have been following the story because the guys had requested and Ipod with the Foo Fighters and the Pixies on it. It appears that they were in good spirts the whole time. What wonderful brave men they are. And now David Grohl is have a few beers with them!
