This is a 980x790ish (sorry didn't pay too much attention, it's quite late here) crop resized to 640x477 of a picture I took in Lin kou of a young boy during nap time.
Suffice to say that I am BLOWN AWAY by the noise levels and sharpness.
Lucky shot I think.
10 seconds without self timer, taken with the camera balanced on a pencil lying on a tiny kids chair.
I used the 50mm f/1.8.
Please note that this lens had a focus issue and has since been replaced by Canon. I think it was around f/8 or f/11 to get the DOF as focusing was difficult in the dark room and I had NO intention of using the flash assisted focusing...
The image is unsharpened, and the camera was set to standard shooting style.

No visible noise at all. Did you have noise reduction turned on? |

I read the review by DPReview and they said that noise reduction is so good (probably because it has so little to do) on the 30D that it's not worth it to not have it on all the time.
Yes, my noise reduction is ON (not auto).
Pretty happy with those results. the sharpness in the eyebrows is almost as sharp as I got with any other picture with that 50mm lens with faster shutter speeds.
I don't believe that any detail has been removed by the noise reduction.
Like I said, pretty stunning stuff. |

Yeah, the noise reduction (even on mine, the 30D is probably better) is great. Awesome for night photography - I did a few shots at ISO 1600 last week at night and it cleaned them up really well. |
