These are a few pictures I took today at the Desert Botanical Gardens in AZ. I went there for a photoworkshop and found out that the night blooming cactus bloomed last night. It won't bloom again until next year.

Lori... nice pictures ya got at DBG. What was the photoworkshop you went to? What did it cover.

Lots of cacti have blossoms that open at night and are open for just a day. The Saguaro blossom, for example, opens at night and closes forever by sunset the next day. That is why you don't see many open Saguaro blossoms in late afternoon, they are only open about 18 hours or so.

Steve these cactus were the ones that only bloom once a year. The workshop was one put on by Wilson Wyatt.

Oh yeah... that is the Night Blooming Cereus. I was fooled by the other cacti in the background.

Wyatt also does stuff with Boyce Thompson Arboretum. So what wild and wonderful things did you learn?
