		| | This is my first submission and I can honestly say that I appreciate all the comments I have received. It is very helpful for a newbie like myself, not only because it helps me see the picture from other peoples' perspective, but it also gives me an idea of what I am doing. However, there is a distinct difference between critique and criticism - the latter obviously not being very constructive at all. With that in mind, I am a little baffled by one comment I got, not only because there was nothing constructive about it - the comment was also a 180 degree turn from what others have to say. I am thinking the guy just had a bad day:-( Anyone else had similar experiences? |

		| | No matter what kinda shot you enter here and assuming that you are getting comments it is not unusual to see totally opposite comments. Look at this shot of mine:

Almost everyone said that the eyes told the story, but there is one person who said the exact opposite!

		| | Wow I love this one. Here is a man with soar eyes for he has seen it all. Very sad. And the title goes perfectly with the microphone. |

		| | Oh, I get contradictory comments all the time. My favorite was on the recent Something New challenge - one commenter said it needed sharpening, another insisted it looked oversharpened.
Also, things like criticism vs. critique are why I don't mark every single comment helpful. A good chunk of the folks here will mark everything just as an acknowledgement that the comment was read, but I can't bring myself to do that myself.

this recent one of mine is of a house that burned down. someone comented that it was a horrible house. of course it is horrible, IT BURNED DOWN! in my current Free study someone yelled at me for using a subject that they are complaining is overdone. so instead of skipping it they voted me down.

on the very bright other side I have gotten several great comments that I feel have already made me a better photographer. so in the end it is worth it. after 7 challenges now I only curse at the screen for 15 or 20 minutes and move on. so shouldn't be long before I just ignore them.
