'KITCH' for me please? I tried looking in dictionaries and it is not found so I assume it is a slang term from somewhere.
To use it in a sentence: It is kitch but I like it. (at least that is how I saw it in a comment) |

Kitsch or kitch is originaly from the German word meaning 'trash' although more recently has been used as a word to describe objects of poor taste and usually poor quality.
From - //www.worldofkitsch.com/about/definition.html
trash; art, literature, fashion, etc dismissed as being of merely popular taste or appeal, vulgar, sentimental or sometimes pretentious.

That was my comment actually :-) I like "kitsch". Hummel figurines are kitsch. Baroquely overdecorated sitting rooms are kitsch. "Kitsch" is personal; you know it when you see it. The image in question is, in my aesthetic, "high kitsch" and well deserves its blue ribbon.
I assume y'all can find it based on this description, LOL.

Well Bear..I hate to say this...but the comment was left on one of my current entries ( and so far from ribbon contention it is embarrassing ) and I had no idea what the word meant. I am still confused over the impression and wonder if I am missing something. I have never heard the term before. |

Amazing. I wonder how often "Kitsch" gets used in comments on DPC? And here's twice in a matter of a couple weeks :-)
