OK guys, I broke out the ole black light again (goin' for some artsy fartsy images).... let me know what you think. And as always, be brutally honest (I can handle the truth)

Thanks in advance.

1st one is great I love the colours in the dress/wrap folds, it also looks more sensual than the second.

how long are your exposures ?

& how many light di you use ?
i have a 4' and a 2' lengths but i can imagine using them fo portraits as the the exposure would be 10's of seconds ...

I like this, the idea presented in the second one especially. Not that I would EVER be allowed to do this with a nude model, but the paint on different subjects with a black light has creative potential in other ways. Thanks for sharing this. ;^)

I'm not too sure of the exposure lengths on these particular shots. The exif data is at home. I had 3 lights (2 18" and 1 53" fluorescent black lights) My exposure times varied from 2 secs to 30 secs. I used my 50 mm f1.8 for some shots and was able to open up and shorten exposure time but the DOF was pretty shallow. I have about 50 images from the shoot and will post more over the weekend.

I'm working on a series "Studies in Femininity" that will utilize black light and natural light to study female form and grace. My model was VERY tolerant and cooperative. Black light photography requires a LOT of patience. The model has to be able to hold her pose for long exposures which can be very exhausting.

All I can say is that you are one lucky dude. First, to find a model, second to find a patient model, third to find one that is not afraid of taking off da clothes... fourth to find one that looks good as such.

Finally, you have a great eye and that makes you lucky too.

I like the top one with the contours of the dress as well... did you think of doing that topless? The lines of her top don't seem to complement the curves of the dress.

On the second one, did you accomplish the bright lighting via highlighters or blacklight sensitive paint of some sort while using light painting to put the curl on it?

I think that if you had those patterns on her torso with the flowing skirt, in the pose of the first, the lines would soften to curves which would complement while keeping the linear aspect to provide contrast while being a bit less overpowering...

Just a thought!

Nice stuff!

Such a great effect. I like them both in their own way but the 2nd one appeals the most.

I was impressed with your Nude III challenge entry where I first saw you use this. It really looks great!

Thanks for the positive responses guys.

@eschelar: I used black light reactive paint (non-toxic of course). I had considered doing the second one topless, but I don't think it would have been quite as flattering. I was going for a simple "graceful" feel and didn't want nudity to take away from that.

I have several more with various poses that I will post this weekend if ya'll are interested in seeing more. I would love to have more critiques since this is a style I hope to develop and fine tune over time.

On a vaguely related note, I'm quite interested in having one of these done: //www.tattooartists.org/Gal3975_UV_Blacklight_Ink.asp
as I like tattoos but aren't quite rock and roll enough to commit myself to a blatantly visible one. I'd love to take photos of someone with those with a blacklight.

i actually have a few black light tats..they are way cool! the white doesnt show at all in the daylight. Ill post mine in a few hours.

You'll have to excuse to poor quality(taken with a cheap cheap digital) and its before i knew anything about processing.

The blacklight photos you have are Great! I like both of them for different reasons. the one with the paint, I think you shouldve finished the red line up her side. I just think it wouldve "completed" the look and kept the eyes from stopping dead there at the curl. just muh 2 cents ;o)
