Ok ok, I know I know, I am at home, sick and bored to death. I was just thinking that who here really has the highest average of them all that has been in more than a handful of challenges.

I think the answer is obvious, it´s Gary of course kiwiness with a whopping 6.7461 average and that in 75 challenges! Never been even under a 5!

Then there is heida ofcourse with a 6.5904, had a few low scoring shots though so she might be as high as Kiwiness without them, has a few challenges on him or 84.

Manny, or librodo as most of you know him has a pretty good average too, a 6.4509 and in no less than 96 challenges!

Last but not least,

DrJOnes is up there too but has only been in 21 challenges and has a 6.5488, I think it´s pretty insane that he only has 2 ribbons with an average like that.

Now I KNOW I am probably forgetting a lot of people so please, add those I am forgetting.

It would be good to be able to search the membership by score and average (high, low, or bewteen a range of values).

For example, a person could search for those with a slightly higher average than themselves and use the images created by that group as a benchmark for improvement in 'bite sized' stages.

I don't think this is possible now is it?

It's easier to have a high average with just a few challenge entries. Brent_Ward had a 6.8768 average across 3 challenges, but his 4th entry wasn't doing so well and he self-DQ'd it and quit the site. Dogz had a 6.7 average and two ribbons in his first 3 entries, but only a couple of 6+ scores in 26 tries after that.

Some people just watch and learn for a while before they enter, and can come roaring in with a high score. Keeping that momentum over time is a difficult task, but Arpita demonstrates that it's possible. She's been very successful recently.

smokeditor would be another good example of starting high and staying high.

Yeah I noticed him a long time ago, pretty good record but I could never leave the site like that, not having WON a challenge at least hehe ;) Anyway, not really counting the people who have only been in a handful of challenges, I´d say 10+ is what I was thinking of or even more, 25+ challenges entered.

What??? He really did that, was THAT the reason he quit? How lame is that, I really respected the guy but now it just feel through the floor, that is my respect for him...

Anyway scalvert, you are definately one of the highest here 6.27 and that after a 100 challenges! Congratulations on hitting the "three digit", how long before you have entered a 1000 would you say?

He requested a self-DQ on his first entry, which had scored about a 6.1, I think. On his most recent entry, he posted in the forums that it wasn't doing as well as he'd hoped, and said that if it fell below 6, he would post his entry in the forums (knowing that wasn't allowed). It did, he did, and the post was hidden. He then requested a self-DQ on it. When we informed him that he already had a DQ in his last 25 entries and wasn't eligible for another request, he quit. Both were still respectable scores, so maybe he had other reasons and that was just a coincidence. Regardless, he was a darn good photographer.

Yes, kudos to Scalvert! I have been using his average vote received as a goal for months now. It's really slow slogging. ;)

The dude had talent for photography, no doubt about that. To bad he was immature in attitude. Its kinda like the analogy: What I hit an in field double and not a home run? Can we strike that one and let me bat again? No, well then Im taking my bat and ball and going home!

He requested his first Self-DQ when he found out that photographers can't remove challenge entries as they wish. I think that maybe at the time, he hadn't planned on entering anymore, although I'm not positive about that.

Well, I tried to redirect back to the main topic...

While we're still on the diversion, didn't Brent have an account before his last one and he started all over with new username, etc...?

Sorry, I think we were typing at the same time. He only had one account, he just changed usernames.

Mike is a buddy of mine. He doesn't even shoot anymore. It was never about winning for Mike, it was about shooting. He really dug theme shooting.

Hope all are well...

Who has the most ribbons?

Is their overall average proportional to the number of ribbons?

Who has the most ribbons with the lowest average score?

Well what he should have done was just entered more DPC approved/safe choices like what some do to keep/build that average up and then take some risk once your average can handle it. With the exception of a few (DrJOnes appears to be one) most everyone with very high averages does that. It's obviously a strategy that works if you're good enough and you don't mind the backlash of doing the same gimmick shot for the nth time. The hardest thing is to have that high average AND not succumb to that. Heida is a good example of that.

I agree that more stats would be nice to have at times, especially some of the more common ones.
