Hey Guys,
I have a battery for my rebel that refuses to charge. It just flashes on & on & on.... When I put it in my cam there is no juice.
What gives? It is dead or what? Is there something I could do to it to bring it back to life?
I really need two batteries & I can;t afford to buy another. Any help would be great!
Thanks in advance!

Battery sounds dead. The Canon ones are really ridiculously expensive. You can get direct replacements, sometimes with a higher capacity, from eBay dirt cheap. I've used third-party no-name batteries in all my cameras and had no trouble at all, so I feel that there is nothing to worry about in using cheap generic batteries.

I dunno about in cameras, but in mobile phones, mostly Nokia from what I've heard, non-official batteries from ebay have been known to explode when in someone's pocket... not nice!

I know a number of people who use these batteries with no problem.

I got a couple of cheap ones off ebay. one was never an issue, the other didn;t seem to hold much of a charge, so i threw it in a drawer for 5 months. decided one day to give it another go - no problems.
so try just forgetting about it for a few months.

I have a couple of Energizers that I bought on clearance the other day. They are 1300 and 1400 mAH rated batteries. If you are interested in them I'd sell them for $17USD each shipped. I dont have a Canon but figured someone could use them. Just havent gotten around to list them I will get the info off of them and list them in Hardware tonight. I think the listing on them list them as replacements as BP-508, BP-511, BP-512, BP-522. I paid 12.48 each for them, my asking price should cover actual cost plus paypal fees and actual shipping. I'm not trying to make any money on them. Just couldnt pass up what could be a deal for someone.

I'll second sterlingtek.com
The battery is identical to the Canon battery in every way. I'd bet money they buy from the same supplier canon buys from.
I'd avoid the very cheap Ebay batteries.
