I still consider myself a relatively new user here. I generally vote on all the photos in a challenge, probably spread over a 2 or 3 days, to be fair to everybody. I've noticed, for my own submissions and those of others, that the number of views never equals the number of votes. What's the rationale behind that? Is it just laziness or utter disapproval of the photo or somehting else? I am quite curious for those who practice this habit. |

It's possible for voters to view more than once but still have voted. I usually scan through the entries right after rollover and view some that look interesting but don't vote then. I know a number of people go back and readjust their scores as well. And...not everyone does vote so there's that. |

Sometimes people don't have the time to vote on a challenge, but they like to look through the shots and see what was done...that probably accounts for some of it.
But I think the larger factor is that many voters view an image more than once during voting. For instance, I usually vote on all of the images, but then go back over my votes in order to leave more comments (earning another view) or raise the vote if I find I was too harsh on any given criteria (earning another view). |

After I have voted I often go back and look at my favourites again, just because I like the photo or because I'd like to photograph something similar to it. I also frequently go back and tweak my votes or leave comments. Nothing sinister about it.

Do remember that this site gets TONS of "visitors" who just browse photos and leave.

- I view a lot of the member challenges but cannot vote.
- On the open challenge, I will view a photo several times (one pass to sort them into buckets and other passes to get the final vote).
- I sometime just browse a few images if I don't have time to vote.
- If people vote less than 20% their votes are thrown away - maybe the views are not. |
