what happened to the thread where this was said?

The only reason I brought I brought it up again is because I wanted to say that I third the motion. And because I still wanna see what a "technically perfect" shot that scored only 5.5 looks like.

No we may not.
Guys, help out the poor folks on SC at the moment by NOT exacerbating the situation. We do appreciate it. :) |

Let me 'splain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up ...
- Someone stopped taking their meds
- They now hate dpc
- They take technically perfect photos
- We voters suck
- We photographers suck
- D & L suck
- Everyone is in cahoots to change/alter votes
Did I miss anything? |

Yes, blemt's suggestion to drop it and move on (not that the Princess Bride reference wasn't funny).

If it will help at all, I would like to sincerely apologize to the people I made rude, and apauling, comments to. I have had a difficult time with my business lately, and the time that I thought I took a perfect photo, was the time when I would receive the worst scores from my challenges, so when I saw the scores I was devastated to the point of questioning whether I should really be in this business.
Furthermore, seeing the image in the left hand side of my screen every time I logged in was just a slap in the face to me. Aside from the rude comments that were made to me after the fact of the issues debut, some of you people voted your honest vote and I should not have taken it personally. I became highly frustrated when I could not remove the image from the site, and it all snowballed from there. Please accept my sincere apology, especially you mk.
Lance. |

I've heard the safest way to be smitten is to bend over and touch your knees :-)

A good example of a tool used to smite:
A Reading from the Book of Armaments, Chapter 4, Verses 16 to 20:
Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

lance, i just saw your apology, and thought i would drop you a note.
i don't have a clue as to who you are or what you're deal is, but you really need to get a hold of yourself. dpc is just one of 1000s of online communities, which in many ways are just like real-life communities. communities, while far from perfect, exist to let people work towards a common goal. some are leaders, some are followers, some are in between. some stay forever, some are just passing through. all the same, most of the time, the majority of the members are always working together. there will always be disagreements and squabbles, but it's how one conducts themselves during these times that makes a difference as to how they are accepted by the community when the dust settles. basically, no one likes it when somebody pisses in the pond we all have to drink from.
as far as a measure of ones photography, dpc is just one audience. you might read this thread for a reality check. dpc can be very helpful in many ways, but it is by no means the be-all-end-all. and, as with anything else, you only get out of it what you put into it. nothing is automatic, and nothing happens overnight. you can't just waltz in thinking you're God's gift to photography...
and, as for your business, well, if it's having a rough go, well, that's life. things come and go in cycles. there'll always be ups and downs. the thing to do when you're in a down cycle, though, is to dig in and make it work. the thing NOT to do is to lash out at everyone else.
so, all this being said, i hope things work out for you, wherever you may be, doing whatever it is you decide to do.
cheers,

Thanks skip. I'm glad you posted it here cause I'm sort of banned from messaging, or anything else, until the 9th so I couldn't answer. Yes, it was terribly wrong for me to take it out on people, people that were not originally associated with my frustration directly. I do recall that you said some pretty hurtful things, but it doesn't matter. It's all water under the bridge. I probably will never enter a challenge, but I would love to offer any advice I could. I may not take decent pictures, but I have probably studied long enough to write a book. lol
Thank you for this mostly:
there'll always be ups and downs. the thing to do when you're in a down cycle, though, is to dig in and make it work.

I'd like to comment about your business, Lance.
Gas prices are killing us. I've had to lower my prices lately simply because not many can afford luxuries such as personal photography right now when they are dumping so much money into thier cars.
In the end, it'll stablize. Either gas prices will fall back to acceptible levels or wages will increase. It's bond to happen.
Ride it out, man. And, you might have to take assignments you wouldn't normally want to do, but if ya stick to your guns, you'll be fine.
In the mean time:
You learn to love 'em :-)
