Yes...this is BIG for me. It has always been my dream to have a photo appearing in UNICEF's postcard and/or calendar. Anyone close to me (especially Peter...Philos31) knows this. A lot of my friends here in dpchallenge even helped contacting them and giving names as my contact persons. Actually, I didn't really pursue it. Eventually, I pushed that dream towards my unconscious. And then today...boom....this email.
"Dear Manuel,
I am a graphic designer at UNICEF Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. I am
very taken by your beautiful photographs of children and would like to know
if you would be interested in working with us? Would you be willing to
allow us to use your photographs on cards and in UNICEF catalogue material?
We are a non-for-profit organization but we do pay for usage of
photography.
Please let me know if you would be at all interested, and we can talk about
specifics then.
Thank you very much for your time and keep up the great work!!!! You may
not be a "professional" but your work certainly is.

OK, this is just me, but if I'm being contacted like that, I'd be so honoured, I'd probably let them use the photos for free.

Am I the only one who thinks posting the personal contact information for this person is, umm, not good WWW etiquette? Seems like an opportunity for someone who is not Manny to call and hassle a unsuspecting UNICEF employee.
Nevertheless, congrats Mr. Librodo. It's a good match to your material and you'll be able to communicate their vision adroitly. |

Congratulations -- that's about a perfect setup! Not only will you get the chance to "do well while doing good," but it should very likely lead to other recognition (sales) in the future.
Plus you know there's a ready market for some of those images ... here : ) |

| Awesome dude!!! Like everybody is saying, this is good for UNICEF and it was only a matter of time, you really should get off your ass and start doing this for a living, that is, if you want to of course. You know you have the talent for it. |
