Hell, you made my day!

Not only did I get a comment, but you really liked mine. Woo-hoo! I picked the right shot!

All done. 100% voted, 100% commented. All said, there were only a few that I couldn't make a stretch to make them fit the challenge.

Some where dependent on thier titles, but that's not uncommon in the industry. Others were just brilliant.

All-in-all I was pleasntly suprised with the range of submissions.

Negative comments don't neccesarily mean bad scores. Technicals, creativity and effort were taken into account in voting.

Comment were generally my gut feeling on what made the photo or what could have made it better.

I think your comment regarding picture was spot on but I would have to disagree with yout comment regarding the title.

The challenge description did not ask us to title the image as the "Headline" and even if it did the title should only give enough of a the story for the viewer to want to buy the paper and read the whole story, just my opinion.

Maybe you can convince me otherwise after the challenge?

Damn, I got a positive comment from you. Does that mean you didn't necessarily leave a good score? :)

More than likely you got a good score, because I didn't have any issues that bothered me enough to comment on them.

Well just going by the comment you left you made my day! It's getting totally crapped on in the voting. I thought it was perfect for this challenge but oh well. It's probably wishful thinking but maybe next time only those with actual photojournalism experience will be allowed to vote.

Well, yanko, I think a lot of voters are expecting hard news or National Geographic type shots. In the real world those shots don't happen every day.

A lot of my time as a news photographer was spent at local sporting events, town meetings and PR meet and greets (which I loved because it meant a quality free lunch). I also staged a few shots for photo illustrations.

Hence, they all worked for me - very few DNMC's. But, I don't think your average amateur photographer realizes it's not all about warzones and third world countries. That's the reason I decided to sideline and be an observer and spend time commenting.

You're welcome.

Got a few PM's debating my comments. I'll be happy to debate my views on journalism after the challenge. PM's asking for clarification are also welcome.

thank you for your comment. I completely agree except that I did not set up the shot, I just got a little creative with my headline. :)
