that suddenly everyone has time to leave comments? What happened to this being too time consuming to vote and comment? So much for that theory. :P

yep, LOL. I don't think I've ever gotten this many comments at once.

My comments were not related to any current challenge or needing to up my ratio, my ratio is more made than recieved, I was just bored and felt like voting for once, lol

It is not always not enough time as much as not knowing much about photography and feeling unqualified to leave a good comment.

I left lots of comments today. NASCAR race was rained out. And I was sorta geared up for that. So I just went to work voing and commenting.

It was fun.

EDIT....I did not do it for the Free Study, that gap is way to big.

Yeah me too-- Noon 2mor for the race!!
Great paint scheme on dale Jr's car, love it in black..
Was forced to watch a crappy PGA tourney, although that chip-in on 18 to hold par and win the tourney was kinda sweet.

I started commenting more than normal recently because I wanted to try the advice of some that you learn more from commenting and because of the complaints about the lack of comments. You want less comments now? :-))

Disagree. That's how you learn to be a good photographer is to pick apart others' images for the sake of improvement. It then makes you start looking at your own work more critically be it, in-camera, post-shot using the histogrm, or during post-processing.

I've had more comments on my last entry than I've ever have .. the few I've checked have given less than received .. hmmmm ;) I do appreciate the effort though :)

Ideally _eug, I agree with you, but feeling unqulaified is often hard for a noob to get over. It takes a while to get callused :-)

Note that this trend is probably also due in part to the sudden lack of complaints about "uncomplimentary" comments. The more people learn to welcome comments and accept criticism, the more willing people will be to leave those comments, which are really the only ones you can learn (in the sense of improve) from.

Please also note that one of the most effective ways to learn about photography is to critically analyze and comment on images in which you have no personal investment. Recognizing what constitutes strong or weak composition, emotional content, effective post-processing, and so on, and then articulating it, will help you figure out how to make more effective images yourself far more than the comments you get on your own images.

I've gotten a lot of comments...not complaining...I ASKED for critiques...
Also, score went down drastically...(Didn't ask for that....)
sigh!

Who gave you permission to go all IDEALIST on us?

To keep this on topic, one thing that I've learned from viewing Got Cheese? ( //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=266913 ) and Not Bifocals ( //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=305289 ), is that
1) don't mix food and self nudity, and
2) it will be a very difficult task for me to do a tasteful nude self-portrait.

my negative entry has 6 comments with a score of 5.3, but everyone who commented likes it and one even thinks i'm a past ribbon winner!

I just want to say hurray for the 48 hour challenge! I love getting all these comments!

Someone thinks that mine will be in the top 10 even though it's going to bring down my average.

Ummm, I already qualified a long time ago for the Free Study. :P Seriously, I haven't done much commenting this week. Been busy. Pretty ironic eh?

Btw, my Window Framed entry is now up to 37 comments!

I still don't have time.. thus I don't qualify.

Lot of bagheads out too. Are people really getting *that* many bad PMs from people?
