5. kirsty_mcn
6. DanSig
7. tngrndream
8. Louis

...I think Beetle was just offering a suggestion, as opposed to joining, right?

yes, correct

edited to add: I'm not asking to join, because quite often I don't enter any challenges for weeks, so I'm a bit too inconsistent.

Umm, I did but never heard anything back from them.

ETA: Looks like you guys have it filled but if you decide to add more I probably would be interested.

LOL you're cordially invited to critique any time, I can handle it just fine even if it isn't a pat on the back.

And if I actually manage to REMEMBER to do it, I might even return the favor.

Maybe it would be more accurate to critique the way you treat your male models. ;)

That list is fine with me. I believe we're all Members, and part of my concern with the "10 challenges" requirement was to insure that everyone is reasonably committed to the site and what DPC is about. By ponying up and becoming a "member", you've already shown that, so I think it's fine for those of you who haven't quite reached that milestone yet.

As to posting photos here to trigger the review process, that is helpful but not required. I'm personally going to add all of you to my favorites list, then use that to check all of your profiles on a weekly basis to see if you have new challenge entries that I need to comment on. It would definitely be okay, and be a "first step", to post thumbnails of your photos here if one or two or three Trading Post members have for some reason neglected to comment on your photo. That's just a convenient way to politely say "Hey, you missed this one :)" without being intrusive or offensive to anyone.

I would prefer to see that we each have the incentive to "keep tabs" on each other without being spurred by this thread, but I don't have a problem with thumbnails being posted here, either.

Let's please all remember that there is to be no discussion among the group of current challenge entries. It may be that we come to recognize styles after we do this for a few weeks, but we need to do everything possible to preserve anonymity. Also remember that by studying someone else's style, you will learn new things and possibly start incorporating them into your own photography. As a result, you may THINK a certain shot is Melethia's, when in actuality it was submitted by Louis, or even someone that is not in the Trading Post. Let's don't make these kind of assumptions during voting; wait till the challenge voting is over before making Trading Post critiques.

I think we're off to a good start here. Thanks to all of you for supporting my little idea. Hopefully it will help keep all of us on our toes and improve our photography. Goodness knows mine needs improvement... :)

If there are others in the world that like this idea and would like to participate, please feel free to recruit enough members to have your own group. This group is maxed out at 10 members; if others like more or less, that's up to them. There's not a fixed ruleset; feel free to take the idea and run with it or use the "rules" I've provided.

Thanks!

I also assumed that. I think that I have already hit everyone. Let me know if I missed ya.

I was personally going to try to get everyone's most recent entry before tomorrow night's rollover. I guess that's "immediately" :)

You are welcome, by the way. Thank YOU.

I think I've commented on everyone, some during the challenges themselves, it turns out. Please note that when I go back and comment after a challenge, I generally comment without reading anything already written. I hit "post" then go read what other comments are already there, and I've noticed sometimes I repeat what others have said - hopefully that's a not a problem! :-)

Never a problem, and I think that's the best way to do it. Reading things two, three or more times helps get it through my thick skull. That is often the way I try to comment.

Ok. I have everyone on my favorites list. I am ready too. Now all I need to do is get my camera...

Can I just clarify that everyone on the list is happy for me to drag their photos into PS to show "how i might edit it". Not something I usually do, but sometimes can be useful - don't want anyone to get upset about the sacrilege of their photo.

Oh, and thanks to everyone who's already started with the comments. At this rate I've no chance of getting my comments made high enough for the free study! :( lol

@nards656 - thanks for the PM. Don't worry about the whole CC thing - all I meant was that my CC comments tend to be around the ~300wd mark, so its quite an effort to do them. This will give me a chance to get some pace going, with the incentive of having to do everyone's every week. Hopefully this will improve rather than take the place of my CC activity.

You can edit my pics for illustration either in this thread or in the comment itself all that you would like. I would just ask that such edits not be "republished" anywhere else. Not a problem.
04/29/2006 03:32:56 PM · #47
Kirsty, you can photoshop mine too, if you like, on the same basis as nards.
04/29/2006 03:39:54 PM · #48
Same here kirsty.

Argh!
Missed this thread until now.
I would very much like to join!

Photoshop away, Kirsty, but I want all the proceeds if you sell any. :-)
