You know some of these challenges are harder than others...well at least for me anyway. How about having a rating for the challenge, like easy, intermediate and hard?? I would give 'pencils' an easy rating and childhood-hard, candid-intermediate, and so on, of course rated by the admins. Feedback?

Some people study different aspects of photography. Still life photo are difficult for some people, where candid photos come naturally. I personally found the pencil challenge difficult. It was hard to come up with something to make a pencil seem visually interesting. Some people on here thrive for abstract and are good at it. I personally would fail miserably at abstract. So it is really all on the area of photography one has studied.
Just curious, what purpose would a rating serve? I mean, you look at the challenge, see the title and say "that would be hard". There is your rating. Where someone else might say "piece of cake" to the same challenge, and that is their rating.

I wasn't shooting down your idea, just wondering how you would classify easy medium and hard with all the different classifications of photographers here. I buy all those "easy" crossword puzzles and the first clue is 8 letter word for African albino house plant. Then I'm sitting there thinking 'easy for WHO?' LOL.
It's not a bad idea at all. I hope you didn't think I was saying that. I just think it would be hard to do.

I am agreeing with you....dumb idea it was.
