I want to read the manual first. Cover to cover baby. All day tomorrow.
I am going to the Georgia Aquarium Saturday though.

And a great image it is Eric. Have you tried to find the parents and offer them a print?

Read the manual! Then shove it in your camera bag because you'll forget 1/2 of it when you get excited and start clickin! lol

KevinRiggs was kind enough to let me shadow him this last weekend while he was shooting this model. We were at Callaway gardens, Awesome place for photoshoots. This was taken at the beach at the lake there.

Now this is DPC dedication! He gets a new camera and doesn't even open the box to check it out, but instead goes online here to let his friends know about it. Congrats on the new cam! |

;)
Oh yeah baby! Oh yeah!
I've had mine for a week and a half and I've pulled down close to 600 pictures (took a number to get used to the camera, but started the count when I felt I had a bit of a feel for it... my first SLR)
Fun stuff, but the manual is a definite must-read. I put a bookmark in the Custom Functions pages for quick reference and marked which settings I changed from default... I feel this will help if I ever need to do a reset or the camera makes it's way to a repair shop for some reason.
I also put a bookmark in the page for custom white balance, as I find the process a bit more fiddly than the very simple method on my S2 IS.
Haven't found too much else that's really going to be difficult to remember though beyond stuff that I will play with.
Settings I changed:
C Fn1 - 4 (HANDY for 1 handed operation)
C Fn2 - 2 (DPReview also suggested to leave this on as it has no negative effect, but it does have a significant positive effect in some cases... I took a very nice picture of a sleeping child at 10 seconds the other day by placing the camera on a chair.... ISO 640 if I recall correctly, and insignificant/invisible noise levels... It was obviously fairly dark... I'll post the pic later)
C Fn8 - 1
C Fn12 - Marked, but not set, I'm pretty sure that in general shooting I might forget this, so this is where my bookmark sits for if I need it and memory fails.
No need to follow what I did, but it might give you a quick starting point...
C Fn15 - 2
C Fn17 - 1 (haven't seen any actual effect from this though... a bit of a non-issue, but I use the set button now for replay anyhow)

Congrats on the camera... I'm jealous!
Been fighting the urge for a while now. I've had many a sleepless night trying to decide between the upgrade or the lights. (Bowens)
Go post some sweet pics and push me over the edge to go order one!

So, Larry...you weren't gonna tell anyone? Or are you just locked away reading through that manual?
