Check what just came out

//www.dpreview.com/news/0604/06042601casioexz1000.asp

10.1 Mega Pixel and a shutter lag of 0.002 seconds

Sounds like I have waited long enough. I know my 20D shoots faster but I want something I can put in my pocket.

hey that doesnt look bad at all! I've been wanting to get a small P&S too, for those times that I can't - or don't want to lug the 20D along.
Now to find out how much this little gem will cost.

It did just get announced yesterday, April 26th. I've checked B&H and they don't have it. It's coming though...and I'm ready!!

Casio's site says it'll be out in June and should retail for around $399.99. I'll be waiting for it too.

I already saved up $500 for one...that means I'll have some left over...I'll have to buy a memory card.

Just bought a 2gb Ultra II CF card off ebay for $59.95 for my 20D :-)
I'll have to watch there for SD cards if I get the Casio.

Seems like a nice little camera. stainless steel is a good advantage for some of the places I go and can't take my camera but I might wait a bit longer and see who else matches this.

Where do you go that you can't take your 20D because it's not steel?

Where did you see what it was made of...I can't find it.

I've not seen anywhere even on Casio's site that claims this is made out of steel. I did find on Amazaon.com that the release date is June 30, 2006, and if you wish you can order now and have it shipped at that time.

It seems to have no viewfinder and no zoom lens.

Check out this Pentax underwater-capable camera. It has some pretty good customer reviews, including my favorite lines:

"If I had made the choice of another camera it would have not
survived the washing machine in Alaska. Thank-you Pentax."

Just around rock faces near the ocean where the salt spray is a killer. At least with a stainless body it can handle it a lot better. There is no way i would take my 20D out.

This was on the DPReview

He continued; âCreative photographers will find the sleek stainless steel EX-Z1000 a delight to use when seeking to capture their own view of the world. Thanks to a ground-breaking 10 million pixels, Anti Shake, an ISO 3200 BEST SHOT mode, and Super Life Battery, users can be assured that their images will match their memories.â

What worries me is that 10mp in a small body is likely to be a real noise machine. My Panasonic is pretty bad, even at ISO 80, which is one of the reasons I think I'll eventually have to get a dSLR (unless something similar to but better than the Sony R1 comes along). But I really want a pocket camera too.

I thought this Kodak camera looked quite interesting, though I'm not sure I need all that zoom for a pocket camera. But I'll read up about the Casio. I'm not rushing into anything - I've done that before and not been happy with what I got.
