well ... new to me. I just got my "new" canon rebel. It's the original one from 1990. I've wanted a film SLR for some time now and 23 bucks was just too cheap to pass up. I can't wait to use it :)

It only has one focus point, 3 zone metering, no pop-up flash. I barely remember how to load film! It's so freakin' cool.

Wow, it's almost as old as I am. ;-) At $23, it's a steal - bet you'll have some fun with it. Congrats, and happy shooting with film....film....hmmm, you know, I think I used to know what that was...

Congrats on the new camera, long live film. I still have and shoot a Nikon N90s and a N80.

bump for the morning croud

I forgot to mention how light it is. This thing and the cheapo 50mm 1.8 combo practically defies gravity.

:)

Anybody else got one of these bad boys?

Dont have one of those but I recently purchased a Canon EOS 5 off e-bay for £110. Just love it! I mainly use my Sigma 28mm f1.8 and it produces fantastic photos. Interesting that I read in this weeks Amature Photographer that a lot of folks who shoot with a DSLR are starting to buy 2nd hand SLR's. I love shooting film and am fortunate enough to have someone to process for me!!

That sure brings back some memories. My Rebel G is a slightly newer model, but my 650 is the very first EOS Canon made. Both great cameras, but if I were to get nostalgic for shooting film, I'd load up my original camera, the Konica Autoreflex TC. Early 70's model, totally mechanical, with only a watch-battery to power the light meter (which lasted for years). Back then Konica and Minolta were bitter rivals, and them merging would have been crazy talk. And if you had suggested they would merge and be sold off to Sony, you'd have put people in hysterics.

Hey, enjoy your new baby, now go buy some Fuji Velvia and see what real color looks like!

I hope you have fun with it :)

yikes ... spending only $23 will, i'm sure, ease the pain if such an incident should occur.

ps ... some superglue would make that waterproof again

.... or break it completely :)
