Took a trip to the zoo today and tried out my new stuff, comments or advice appreciated.

Comments? I'm absolutely green with envy over your new equipment. :o) As far as the pictures go, since they were outdoor shots you can't do too much to control the lighting (obviously), and the Parrot would have looked a little better in the sunlight to make the colors pop more. But again, that's a bit beyond your control. Having said that, the pictures are still really good. I wouldn't have cropped the top of the head on the first shot, but that's just me. With equipment like that, you're set to take a ton of great shots, and I'm sure you will. Keep it up, and congratulations on your amazing new gear!

Thank you Pixl...unfortunatly the first one wasn't cropped, silly me wasn't paying very good attention to the mom, I was watching the baby! |

Nice shots. Since I have the same lens I'm curious as to the aperture and shutter speed used. |

The macaw was 1/80 @ f/11 and the other was 1/125 @ f/6.3. I was just practicing with aperture today. I'm just trying to learn right now. |

Depending on distance, fill flash (set to -1.0 to -1.7 compensation), would have given you just enough fill light to bring out some colors in the subjects' face's (especially the bird).
