Hey there,
today I picked up my prints for the exhibition next month. They're 50 x 75 cm large (wow, great size!), glossy prints and they were in big tubes. Ofcourse I checked them, they looked really fine. I wanted to show them again to my colleagues, and I saw there were little scratches on the prints!
My question: If I frame them, are these scratches still visible? Or am I a perfectionist?

well, i'm not an expert....but I've noticed in photos that I've printed off that once I frame them, any "weirdness" from my printer is much less noticeable. If they're BIG scratches, that might be another story...but if they're something that you have to look really close to see, then I wouldn't sweat it too much. People generally stand at least two feet away from a photo they're viewing anyway...plus the glass....I think you'd be ok.
But again, NOT an expert.
And good luck on your exhibition!! :-) |

Many times a glass or plexiglass cover will mask small surface scratches, adding an appearance of additional gloss to the photo. If you don't need true smooth Hi Gloss photos in the future try the Luster finish. Also many labs have as an additional charge a protective coating they can put on smooth glossy prints to resist small surface scratches and fingerprints.
Good luck!

I'd have to jump into some labs in Holland to see what's possible.
Thanx for the tip, Phantom, I'll check it out for the next time!! |
