Ask yourself, "Why am I nervous?"

Are you nervous because you will have nude people in front of your camera? I know it seems like losing your virginity now, but really after you've done it a few times, you'll realize that it's not really a big deal.

Now, there is a LOT of advice we could give you one shooting nudes. What kind of questions do you have?

OK, shooting on the beach is fun. Plenty of opportunity for nice backdrops and scenery. I suggest using fill-flash for beach shots, even your on-board flash will provide nice shadow fills and catch lights in the eyes at shorter focal lengths.

Don't try to shoot mid-day. Mornings or afternoons will be much better. Also, you might want to use an ND filter to give you decently large apertures. Bring as much memory as you can and shoot a lot and don't try to pose every shot. Ofcourse you want to manage the poses, but don't try to manage every tiny aspect of the poses.

As far as the B&W question goes, that's a matter of taste in Post Process. My general feeling about B&W and nudes is that it should have a reason to be B&W. Just making a nude B&W for no reason seems trite to me - forced "art". But, the nice thing about digital, is that it is a decision you can make after the shoot.

since you have 2 models they can take turns being assistants, get a big reflector and let the assistant hold it to reflect light to fill in the shadows, it will look more natural than the fill in flash.

reflectors

these are about the best reflectors you can get, and they are cheap to :)

Have fun and let your models have fun. That's the most important part.

Oh, one BIG word of advice. Have your models wear lose clothing to the shoot. Bra and panty lines can take up to an hour to disappear.

as someone who put themselves trhough art school doing modelling, show the models the images on the camera. if there are any they realy feel uncomfortable about, let them veto them, unless you can come up with a convincing argument as to why not. remind them to bring a robe of some kind, so they can slip it on and off easily. tell them what you have in mind before you leave for the shoot. ask them what they think of the poses, do they have any ideas. they know their bodies, and what they can do.

most of all, have fun. it's scary for both parties at first, and you (as photographer) need to prove your trustworthiness. especially in this age of internet.

good luck, i'm sure you'll all have a great time!

Is this a private beach? Aren't they worried about attracting the wrong kind of attention or being visible to the general public?

I *might* have someone willing to pose nude for me. I'm not sure that I'm comfortable doing nude, but I'm willing to give it ago. My hesitation is finding a place to take her where we wouldn't be giving anyone a cheap thrill. My last *photoshoot* happened in my boss' office, but I don't think she'd like to know we spent a Saturday taking nekkid pictures in her office. My house would seem like an obvious choice because it's isolated, and going outside is an option. But, getting rid of my assorted male relatives for a few hours could be a challenge.

Haha, sounds like fun, 6 months on an island with 2 girls doing nude photography :)

Well seriously I think I can only offer one advice, to keep buisness and pleasure seperate, to be very professional about the whole thing.

That and mastering fill lighting and making the most of overcast days and shooting in the golden hours during the morning and evenings, it will lead to the best pictures of people outdoors. I have a lot of fun going outdoors with my bowens lighting, just need one lamp really for that and the results can be pretty good, the cheap alternative is to use an external flash and having it off camera, even just holding it in your hand works pretty fine most of the time.

Now we can start going 'round and 'round about if porn is still photography and what constitutes porn vs erotica vs artistic nudes.

I do most of my nude photography indoors in the studio. But if I lived in a location like you on an island in the Greek Islands, you wouldn't find me indoors anymore. Skiathos is a beautiful island with deserted beaches and golden sand which is ideal for nude photography. You are living in a photographer's paradise, go and make the most of it. I am envious enough of you as it is :) Do you want an assistant?
