I came across the above thread in a search for something else and noticed something that might be worth pointing out. We have a wealth of knowledge at our disposal with wonderful sites such as DPC and luminous-landscape (my 2 favorites) where we can learn damn near anything we want from picking out our first dslr to the most advanced of photoshop tricks, and most people's bookmarks reflect these type of learning and photo equipment sites which is fine, but nobody has included any of their photographic influences in their bookmarks. I am currently a photo student and I've seen too many people that devote more time to following what latest greatest camera is about to be released than they do to the study of photography itself. I seriously doubt half of my photo department knows who Henri Cartier-Bresson is or his impact on photography, but I guarantee you they could quote the specs of the Canon 5d. Don't get me wrong tutorial sites are great resources as are technically oriented product sites and publications (like popular photography magazine) but I think we might get more from photography if we devoted more time to studying photography and talented photographers rather than drool over that new camera or lens we can't even afford at the moment. How do you guys feel about this? Also feel free to list your biggest/ current photographic influences.

My current biggest influences are

//www.davidfokos.net/

Edit: Sorry for the thread title typo it won't let me edit it.

I dunno, I'm inherently a gear junkie with whatever hobby/sport I get into, far more than I am an 'artist' or even a 'rider'.. heh.

I do like to 'ooh' and 'ahh' over the work of just about any pro that gets linked to here though.

Good idea, there must be hundreds of fantastic website out there.

The following is my favourite and although I haven't really got into this type of photography I really find it very interesting and different.
