Is there a difference between academic versions and regular(I'm guessing that's what it'll be called) versions other than its price?

Licensing agreements are usually the only differences with 'academic' software packages.
I've got the academic license of Adobe Creative Suite and it basically limits me to using it for educational or non-profit. When I graduate or actually start making money doing photography (not sure which will come first), I'll purchase the standard upgrade so that I have CS3 as well as a license with which I can legally make money.
Each software manufacturer is different in their limitations, even some acdemic institutions have different setups with software companies, but the 'don't make money' limitation has been the common element in my experience.
