.....more than just an image of light, color, and compostition?

When does it become a work of love?

when YOU yourself can relate strongly to it, and feel what stories the photo could tell you.
I have a few photos in my personal collection that I personally felt very strongly drawn to (sadly not many of them). There is actually one I shot by accident for a DPC challenge and is one of my personal favourite, called "Nostalgia".

When does it become a work of love?

When a piece of you ends up in it, and you can look at it days or years later, and still remember so vividly that moment, or one connected to it.

When does it become a work of love?

When you sweat blood to capture or create the light, color and composition.

LOL Not dismembered pieces, but come on, we've all had that shot where the camera is on a tripod on the top of a snowy/icy/muddy hill, and just as we get the self timer going for that perfect exposure, we slip and fall down the hill, and some random part of us ends up in the frame as we tumble. Those pics sure bring back memories! And we've all done it...right...guys...or is this just a me thing....

I've actually fallen on top of a model before. Accidentally, I SWEAR.

I've also been tackled at soccer and football games... and ALMOST took a foul to the beanbag at a baseball game. And, almost been hit by a race car ... sooo... I'll stay away from muddy hills.

LOL - too funny!

I once was shooting at a martial arts tournament, sitting down on the floor right on the edge of the ring, when one of the players came flying right into me. I was looking through the lens as it happened, and afterwards, while everyone was asking me if I was OK, all I kept saying was, "yes, but why didn't I click the shutter???!!"

The shot probably never would have come out, but for me, that's "the one that got away." :)

When you snap the picture and look at the screen to see exactly the photo you have imagined in your mind, or even better than you imagine it; that's better than any drug out there, and is why I love photography so much.

LMAO! I love how you specify muddy hills implying everything else is actually part of the job. You crack me up.

I've had basketball giants tumble down on me, and I seem to be a magnet for soccer balls. I'd MUCH rather have some pretty model fall on me - or vice versa ;-)

When you get done processing, go get a beer, sit back down at the desk and go 'Holy Sh... did I do that?'

Totally agree with that.
