Went to scout out the location for the wedding I am shooting tomorrow. Took the family and tried out my new 10-22mm lens. It sure makes things easier! I didn't have to stand 10 yards back to get these shots..LOL

Jennifer, how cool to have a super wide angle! These shots are really intimate and stunning. I like the second one best...the forth is pretty good as well. I got my 10-20 Sigma about 9 months ago and just love having it on my camera.
I have a shot I took wide angle with my 10-20...
Thanks for your comments on my ribbon by the way!

Oops, forgot to mention that it was at a wedding where I was the minister! Great vantage point. You might want to ask the celebrant if you can take a similar shot when they kiss for the second time for the photographer!

That is a really cool shot! Tomorrow's ceremony is small. A lady I swim with has her mom & boyfriend visiting and they are getting married here :) I am thinking it is going to be SUPER small.
Maybe I'll mount the 10-22mm on my 300d instead! It will be so nice having two camera bodies to use for events like this. My 24-70 will be on the 20d :)
I got some tips on flash at sunset, so hopefully all turns out well!

Wow, the horizon is amazingly flat for such a wide angle lens. And the subjects (silhouettes) look so perfect as well. That's an amazing lens. I see pictures like this and keep thinking ... I want one! :-) |

Thanks :)
The horizons were pretty flat. All 4 images are cropped. There was some noticable vignetting on many of the shots, however. Not sure if that is super common with all wide angles or not :)

My Sigma 10-20 doesn't vignette at all.
Anyway...did you try any with some fill flash...I bet that location would be insane with some off-camera fill...just saying.

Ackkkkkk....I am such an idiot. I had a circular polarizer on...LOL
Anyways, deapee.....I did try what someone had suggested about metering for the sky, then recomposing the shot and firing. It worked pretty well!!! I feel much more confident going into tomorrow's wedding.
Do you mean to try some fill to illuminate the beach a bit? I will try some landscapes with fill next time too. It isn't the prettiest place in Guam, but it's ok. Here is a shot of the beach, about 1hr prior to sunset:

no, I meant take a picture exactly as you did with the 4 sillhouettes, but with your flash on fill TTL mode...see if you can get the subject lighted as well.

Oh ok. :) In this case, I was going for silhouettes....but tomorrow will be the opposite!!!
Here is one I tried with my on-camera flash. (Tomorrow I will be using my 420ex)
This is the unedited jpeg. I metered off the sky, locked exposure, and recompossed my shot to focus on my son. I don't think I got enough fill in there. He is still pretty dark. I only tried a couple shots like this.
