I need help. Major help.
I've received this message.

You have been suspended from this portion of the site through 05/02/2006 for the following reason:
Because you've received three disqualifications within your last 25 submissions, you are suspended from submitting for two weeks.

The first problem is that I don't have three dq's. The second issue is that I was asked to verify my recent third place photo which I did in a very timely manner.
Did site council not receive the verification and now are going to dq me without my ability to follow up?

The last problem is that if someone is going to get penalized, I think (as a friendly suggestion only) that an email should be sent to the person. I had no notification of a penalty until I went to submit a photo that took hours and hours and hours to produce. The rules state "the Site Council may elect not to apply a penalty." I am glad for this, but how should we determine if one falls into this exception? By clicking the submit photo button? Certainly I know now to click that button before I start working on a project, but that seems like something one cannot expect people to just do. Some might claim that I deserve to be suspended due to the rule that states that two dq's usually result in a penalty. They would be correct, but I've submitted two photos since the second dq. It seems to me that people need to either be suspended immediately upon ruling or notified if the suspension is going to be applied retroactively sometime in the future.

Normally I would not be so frantic, but the possibility of my one and only ribbon wrongfully being dq'ed, in addition to not be able to submit a photo for color studio portrait, that I probably spent a full two days working on is making me a bit nervous.
Please advise.
Bvoi :)

As far as DQ's goes, looks like you were DQ'd from TOYS and ABSTRACT II so this would make your third DQ.

I hope you get it all straightened out. It is an excellent shot and deserves the ribbon :)

I agree that an email could be sent.

I also feel that anyone who enters the challenges should spend a few minutes to read the rules and therefore these issues would not occur.

Not saying you didn't but 3 dq's within 25 challenges is alot and I'm glad the rules are there.

I read your post and still don't understand why you may get DQ'd for your shot...

Had you contacted SC before making this post?
It could be an honest mistake.

We received your Textures proof fine and that is still in the verification process. It looks like you've had two photos disqualified and one removed at your request which, per the rules, generally counts as a disqualification. I'll speak with the other Site Council members to see if they believe it should be treated as a disqualification (I do still have the information on your reasoning behind it) but even if that did not count toward your DQ request, your Children's Toy disqualification would be your second within 25 and you would still be subject to a one week suspension.

I hope you dont get DQ'd, its a wonderful photo.

Its kinda mean to sent out that letter and string you along when they have not even verified you shot yet. That seems strange.

Good luck !

I think you're misunderstanding the situation.

Thanks for your responses. Mk...The photo was removed because my friend who was in his boxers, ended up subing at the school I teach at and was really embarassed when some of the kids found the photo.

Let me say this first...If the pic is DQ'd...mine would ribbon...I don't want to see anyone DQ'd unless rules were broken...in which case they should be.

Now...with that said..If bovi's "texture" shot is deemed valid..but If bvoi's children's toy DQ was his 2nd...would his "textures" shot NOT be a valid entry? Would it be DQ'd on those grounds?

In simpler terms: If I have one DQ...then enter 2 more concurent challenges...then one of those is DQ'd...would the remaining shot in the last challenge be NOT valid b/c of the 2 dq?

Thanks,

KS

A valid question kenskid. I don't blame you for asking. I myself was wondering why I was able to submit two photos until the penalty was subscribed.

If you were able to submit the photo, as you were with Textures, we will not remove it due to later suspensions. No worries there.

Thanks for the info...seems like his Textures shot is going to hold 3rd unless "it" broke some kind of rule...so I feel he is safe and I am still in the 7+ "no ribbon" club!!!

I'll get it one day!

Thanks for that MK. I guess according to the rules I can't really object to the suspension. I'll suffer with dignity. My only grievance is that I was not notified about the suspension and I proceeded to spend a huge amount of time on my portrait only to find the submit button not available. If I knew I was suspended, I wouldn't have arranged for the model (her first shoot) and an assistant to work on the project and would have done something else with my time this weekend. If possible, I would really love it if you allowed me to submit now and I'll pay my debt to society starting Monday. If not, I will sadly understand. :)

I'm still discussing with the few SC I can round up (the rest are probably in food stupors). You're definitely right about the lack of proper notification thing and we understand that and are working to see what we can do to remedy it. I'll let you know of our final decision via the ticket you submitted earlier.

bvoi: high fives for handling this like a grown-up and not ranting about a potentially frustrating situation. Many could learn from you in this regard...

Respect,

Maybe we should get kenskid's lizard and bvoi's lizard and have them fight to the death to settle this? :P

Guess you'll just have to wait until next Sunday's rollover and see if he's got a shot in. ;)

An email is sent if you're disqualified but not automatically if you're suspended. Yet.

I've gotta better idea. How about we DQ both lizards to bump me up into 10th place :oP

Nah, wouldn't want it to pan out that way. It's aways better if you win something on your own and not by someone elses demise.
