This thread was a great idea Rikki...thanks for starting it...

Here was my entry:



The original:



I mainly dodged and burned and used some USM and NI. I was happy with the look of the lighting, but I think the real winner was her eyes and smile. It was great to get in the top 10!

Here was another image I considered...



...but I thought I would get hammered for the head being cut off and the kid in the doorway. My kids preferred this shot. I like the contrast and colour in this one and her face looks fantastic.

Apparently she's still alive, nearly 100, is a great, great grandmother and se still chews tobacco...go figure!

This was a great challenge to be involved in for me. I had a Kodak DC290 for the first 6 months of the year (it cost me $1200! 2 megapixels). I upgraded to the 4 megapixel G2 just before this trip. I went to Kenya twice in 2002 and had 5000 shots to choose from. Three cheers for digital...
