Hello
I have some bad news about my camera, the Minolta Dimage 7hi Dan gave me... It stopped functioning
I get strange patterns of lines and noise instead of a picture. After looking up this symptom, I have discovered that it is very common in almost all the CCD chips put into those cameras. They claim to replace it for free, but it seems Minolta has gone under or something like that... I'm waiting for the telephone lines to be open after the Easter holidays to call and try and get this figured out.
Until then, I have been taking pictures with a $5 disposable camera, then having the negatives scanned at a photolab. It's a little experiment I wanted to try and I think the final results are worth taking a look at...
The major downer was on that I was at all these cool locations with my friends like abandoned houses and a war museum with my grandfather...
Here are some new portfolio entries from before my camera died
I would also like to share...

Sucks about the camera. You can probably get a used 300D for like $450, plus a bit for lenses... maybe even find one with the kit lens for a starting point. |

Bummer about the camera Joey! My Sony 717's just started getting those lines too. I'm waiting to hear back from Sony as to whether or not it's worth sending it in for repairs.
I love it ...you take a $5.00 disposable camera and create works of art! |

Sue, my 717 has that too. It was my only back-up camera. I'd be interested in knowing what Sony has to say and what's the cost.

I don't know where exactly you call, but I DO know that Sony has currently taken over all support for Minolta users.
So it could be that you could send it in to Sony to get fixed. |

My dad's sensor recently went out on his sony P&S. He took it to a authorized Sony repair place, and they replaced it for free... I'm assuming there must have been an issue with all of them... |

Just imagine what Joey could do with a 1Ds Mark II
*lol*
If Canon or Nikon was smart, they'd give him a free DSLR so that when he gets famous he'll be reknown as a respective shooter. *lol* |

Joey, I have taken some remarkable pics with this camera, not that you need any help in that area, but I would be more than willing to loan you this one until you get straightened out. I'm off to Florida this afternoon and will be back Sat. Just PM me and let me know, I'll be more than happy to send it to you. Your work is absolutely amazing young man!!!

Why can't 15 people donate 100.00 each for a new camera. A dslr? with a couple lenses.
I should be president. |

How do you get such depth of colour? Why don't you do a tutorial on your work in PS ? I would love to learn from you. |

Hey, thank you very much for the offer. I think I should be alright for now borrowing my friends and neighbours cameras until I get this settled out. It would seem like a waste just to send it back and forth, I really appreciate the offer though. :-)

Joey, I'm really keen to see what you do in PS to your photos. PM'd you once a while back as I couldn't believe you did all that dodging and burning without a tablet. I tried it and just don't seem to be accurate enough for it to look any good at all.
I was wondering, perhaps you'd take a video capture of the next photo you work on and then upload the video file somewhere. (I have some spare space if you don't). There's a nice bit of freeware I use to record demos as avi video files. You can download it here if you want:

Great work, as always.

Thank you for the link. As much as I'd love to share every technique I have to everyone, I would not like to expose my deepest, darkest secrets... for free ;-) Wanna make a donation to my camera fund? lol
Actually this isn't such a bad idea if people are interested, I'm broke what can I say? :-p
