Okay, for most editing in PS is easy. I am just learning it too. Did I do Right? If I am driving you nuts let me know please.

almost there. the selective desat you created shows the fringing at the edges fo the flower (see the right of the flower's petals). i would increase the contrast on the background to make the shadows deeper and thus letting the red flower stand out.
