Hi, i'm very new to photography and am still learning the basics. I've put a few photos in my portfolio and the photo below is by far my most viewed; and i don't know why. I was wondering if you could let me know what you think of it; is it a good photo? If so why? There are other photo's that I much prefer but they get very little viewing in comparison.

The photo is a shot of the waterfront in Cairns, Australia.

Many thanks,

Neil

i think it is because at the thumbnail size it is difficult to tell what it is. thus creating the need to bring it to full size. the others you get a general idea as to what they are. so you only need to bring it to full size ifn you have some sort of connection of that picture.

maybe, not tuly sure what goes on in peoples minds.

hope this helps

That IS interesting. In thumbnail it looks sort of like it might be a moody mountain alpenglow/twilight sort of shot. Made me click to see :-)

From a personal perspective I can tell you that I opened it simply because I could not tell by the thumbnail what it was, and since I am unbelievably curious, I just had to open it.

Having done that, I fear I am no further ahead than I was before. One thing for certain... it definitely is abstract.

I find the photo (hope you're not offended) - boring.
I too, find myself clicking to view the larger image, but simply because I was curious. The thumbnail is too small that I thought it was a photo of a jelly-fish, and not some light-streaks caused by long exposure. There's your answer probably. Cheers.

Very cool colours in it......it could be fun to play round in photoshop with the levels, and boost the contrast.
