Just a reminder that calling people out in the forums because you did not appreciate a comment is not acceptable; see rule 11. If you feel a particular comment violates the site ToS, Please make the SC aware of it. We all get comments we don't like, and we need to develop thicker skins.

i didn't call the commenter out - there is no reference to the image or the name of the commenter. i was just wondering if i was being unrealiastic about my expectations.
i have nothing against negative comments, i have a fine art degree, i had public critiques, that's a part of life. what i'm wondering about is the subjectivity of scoring.
the comment violates nothing in the rules, all i'm hoping for here is some opinions on this. after a few days, i'll delete this posting, as i don't want the commenter identified.

Got 4 great comments, hanging in around 5.6, just got a "1" with no comment...hmmmmmm...fine. Just take the time to justify that score so I can understand. I've learned people's opinions are so varried here that the bad will still always come with the good.
po-tay-toe , po-taa-toe , to-may-toe , to-maa-toe. IMHO I've decided to stay away from...

Apparently my photo is morally wrong. Next time I will tell the subject to do it diferently - use a diferent tool - so that I can take a morally correct photo. I will also ask her to move to the outside so that I can shoot the photo with natural light - OH Yes, I will ask her to do the same the next morning as my original shot was at night.

lolol, this is the exact comment I have recieved - Made me laugh, I got a lot out of this exercise and took hundreds of photos of subjects I would normally stay clear of.
It's been a great challenge for me despite the comments.

True - I like my entry - Did not offend me. Actualy, I do exactly the same. It is a definate candid. People actualy wanted to buy it from me - did not offend them either.

mediocre, mediocre mediocre. ah well. candid shooting when a stay at home, mainly single mum, seems to be a hell of a lot more dificult than when i had no kids...

Had another moral issue comment - WOW, is there really people out there that see the devil around every corner. Although my photo is definately not one of the best, I think the whole thing was misunderstood and that definately cost me a 1 or 2 points.
I will definately PM all my Moral issue voters to set them str8. Wow, funny how some people see things. The vote on the morality and not the photo.

Couple of years back a South African Photographer took a photo of a small child sitting on a gravel road. The child was naked and extremely thin - it was in some African Country that had some major hunger issues.
In the background was one or two vultures lurking - Very shocking picture. Photographer recieved a couple of Awards for this photo.
Surely there are more moral issues in a photo like that than there is in mine.

Sorry, I can't. All I remember is the photo. VERY strong image and extremely sad. I get goosebumbs in my head thinking of it. Maybe one of the other South African DPC'ers will know.

Yep, pretty annoying really. The really ironic thing about my photo is that I sat down and spoke to the subject for 10 minutes and then asked if I could take a photo. My subject was more than happy and I managed to offer the subject a few dollars without making it look like pity.
In all honesty I think our conversation and the few dollars I gave would have made the guys morning.
Funny that while I was there I didn't see any high moralled folk drop by for a convo. ;-)

| just want to say that i enjoyed the candid entries. Many wonderful shots. I like the many slices of life displayed, the many peaceful/reflective moments and the real life situations. Just wonderful. |
