Canon 300D: Finding out how many pictures it took

Hey everyone, I just bought a used Canon 300D Digital Rebel , and I took an image and looked at the EXIF information and under the field "Image Number" it said "1171743" does that mean the camera I bought has taken over a million pictures?!? And if that is so, does that mean I can't get as long of life out if it?

Anyways, what's a sure way I can find out how many pictures the camera I got has taken, Thanks!

I'm guessing it's closer to 1743 pictures. My guess is it is folder 117, picture 1743.

Josh,

Short of sending the camera to Canon there's no way that I've found to know how many images its taken. There is software that will extract the total number of shots from the exif for any image shot with a Canon 1-series camera but not with any of the consumer grade bodies. The best anyone besides Canon can do is guess. Sorry.
