I am having some trouble watching/downloading videos online. When I click a link to watch a video, it almost takes as long to download it as it does to watch it. Doesn't matter in what format the video is made. Visiting websites and downloading photos are no trouble. Any ideas?
Setup:
Windows XP Home Edition
Intel 1.5GHz Intel Processor
504MB RAM
Realtek 10/100 Ethernet Card

If you need anymore info, I'll give if I can.

Are you on a broadband connection? Video files are arguably the biggest files you can find to download on a regular basis (not including illegal stuff of course, heh), and as such they take a long time to load, even on broadband most of the time.

And on dial-up, which I have, certain sites won't even allow the video to buffer before playing (streaming video), so I don't get to watch it at all.

What type of internet service do you have, and is there an advertised download rate? What are the sizes of some of the video files you're trying to download? Video files can be very large and tax even a high-speed connection. you can test your speed here. You should select a server near your physical location for best results.
