My new Canon 30D came today - it took ages to get it from Dell as the Delivery Service they use (DHL) only delivers here on Wednesdays. They say it's a remote area.
Anyway, it finally arrived and I love, love, love it! The new bigger view screen is wonderful and the variable ISO settings are so handy. The sample pictures I've taken are all turning out great. I liked my 10D so much I was worried about getting the 30D and not liking it as much. I've taken lots of boring pictures around my house and neighborhood. Here's a 100% crop of my neighbor's house across the street. It is so clear for a 100% crop and very well exposed for glaring afternoon sun.
Used the Canon 50mm 1.8 lens.

That's awful - all the joy of getting a new camera is replaced by frustration.
Did you return it to Canon or to wherever you bought it? |

I got the 30D about two weeks ago and have already put about 3500 pics through it. I am still learning but it is incredible. I upgraded from the Rebel.
Congrats, it's a great addition to your stable.

i called canon to see if it was something i was doing wrong or it was the camera itself. they told me to send it to them and they'll see if it would be a warranty fix or i would have to pay for the fix. i only had the camera 5 days...huh? so i just sent it back to where i bought it from. i hope my next one is ok, it's an awsome camera. |

Well, they couldn't take my plasma because my veins are too small!! I told them the Red Cross and my doctor take from my legs, I've got big piping veins there. But, they said they couldn't do that. Poop!
Though, Glenns said that once I have the camera mostly paid off, if I want to take it on a field trip, he'd let me take it. I've been doing buisness there long enough that he feels confident that I wouldn't just take the camera and run. |

Could you sell your Evolt and get enough money to pay off the 30D? Did you ever sort out the problems with the Evolt - I remember a little while ago you were having some trouble with the picture quality. |

I wanted to keep my EVOLT as a back-up, but now, I'll have to trade it. He'll give me about what I could get for it on eBay. I still have problems with it, but he'll send it back to Olympus and have them straighten it out before he re-sells it.
Maybe after I finish paying for my 30D, get a decent flash, and a lens or two, I'll buy an XT or a used 10D as back-up. |

The 10D would be an excellent choice for a back-up body. I love mine. It also uses the same battery as the 30D which is handy. The Rebel xt uses a different size battery. |
