This is a question I asked myself last year when I wanted to get a large(ish) format photo printer and now it seems I am asking it again. I've been wanting more and more to print some of my images at sizes that I can't have done locally and also do some for friends and family so I am again looking to buy one. Epson has a $100 rebate through April now so I could get the 1280 for only ~$350 from Buydig.com or the Canon for $400. I would love to use the Epson's up to 44" capability but I use OSX 10.1.5 so I think it's still not supported. If it worked with Virtual PC, that's another story. Anyway, I've read so many reviews online of the two and it seems split in terms of print quality. Since I can't have my own to test I'm wondering if anyone has used one or both of the printers and has opinions, especially if you have printed from both.
Thanks in advance.

I own the Epson 1280 and it is a fantastic printer. I purchased the printer a couple of months ago (to take advantage of the rebate) and have not been disappointed. I haven't used it with a digital camera yet but have done many scans of pix taken with an SLR and the output is great. I am currently waiting for the delivery of S602, can't wait to see the results. You are correct about the 44" print feature not working, I am running OSX 10.2.4 and it is still not available (not something I would use, so not a probelm for me).
New member here, you have a great site and I look forward to participating in the challenges...when the camera arrives of course. |
