I just bought a domain name and a host for a website and seeing if I can post pictures here from that site.

Now as for designing and making the site I'm having problems because I haven't the first idea on making a site. It's just fun right now having my own email address, (I can send and receive BIG attachments :) not like the 1.4 meg attachment in Hotmail)

BTW- what do you think of the photo, It's a crop from a larger one and I call it Life in Black and White.

I don't care for the title, but I love the picture!

That's a nice photograph that you have posted. I agree that it is a real bonus when you have your own domain name. I hope all goes well with you. With regards to designing the site, have you thought about taking some online tutorials? I am not sure if it is proper to advertise sites, but I know of one that offers very cheap tutorials. If you want the web address, my email is:

anthonypatrick@blueyonder.co.uk

Whatever happens I trust everything goes well with you.

Great picture and I love the title. I hope you figure out how to work your web page. I am dealing with that myself. Have fun and Anthony I'll take you up on that offer for the website tuturial.

I love that shot, but agree with Jak - don't care for the title.
As for building a website - here is a site that has a lot of great site-building references and tutorials. I used it to help me build my first website.

Hey thanks for the link to that site. I looked around and the coding for html seems way confusing right now. I'm at school and the Macromedia Studio MX is looking like a good thing for making websites. They have it in our bookstore for $199. One of my friends said that it was the best webdesign tool he's used. So I'm thinking about picking it up. If anyone knows about it please let me know if its a good one. Thanks

First off, great photo; good title!

My brother swears by Studio MX. He's just finishing a CIS degree at Utah State and has done some great work with it. It's probably just a matter of learning how to use the tool, just like anything else. I personally haven't played with it... I'm a bit old school and still code my HTML in a text editor. Kinda' slow, but... :-)

Just my $.02 for you. (Hopefully it's worth a bit more, but I won't push my luck).

Yeah, Dreamweaver is prolly the best wysiwyg editor around. Almost every graphic designer I know uses it. I've been building websites for almost 8 years now, yes I started in Notepad. So I now use EditPlus, which is a beefed up text editor. I'm pretty anal about my code, and I can type it faster than I can tweak out pre-generated code.

If you are new to HTML, you must go to theBareBones Guide. This has been around since I started and is all you need to know about basic webpage building.

When you are ready to kick it into overdrive and add some nifty javascript or functionality, here are a few other advanced sites (along with WebMonkey)

- WebDeveloper.com
- JavaScript.com
- HotScripts.com
- DevShed.com (be sure to check out the Forums. TONS of help there.)
- CodeLifter.com (more chewy gooey javascript funkiness)
- Acky.net (also has a nifty Photoshop tutorial)
- Designs By Mark (Photoshop tutorials, now with no aftertaste!)
- Phong.com Tutorials (More Photoshop pleasure! In nine easy installments!)

:D

FirstPage is probably the best HTML editor I've ever used, and it's 100% free. It's not WYSIWYG mind you, but it's great for people who write their own.
