Our photography club has a competiton coming up called urban landscape.
What is your definition of urban landscape and do you have any examples to post?

well I did a quick google and found this site with some examples. To me it is basically photos of the city but in ways that it shows more than just the buildings.

I would think this would be cityscape:


and this would be urban landscape:


but I could be wrong.

So urban landscapes do not have to have a building in it?

Not specifically, no, but to "qualify" you do need to make it clear it IS "urban". For example, a shot in Central Park in NYC with nothing but trees and grass would not speak "urban" to me, it could be anywhere. Include one of the paved paths and people jogging and strolling, it gets more urban; go a little wider so you can see skyscrapers above the trees and it's definitely urban.

Urban landscapes are about the built environment, with the emphasis on the envirnonment, not the structures. Just as classic landscapes are about the natural environment...
