Are we going to have two advance challenges per week?

I think that it would be nice if we did...because some paying members don't particularly like to enter basic...and with the way it is, there's only one to choose from...if there were two, I think more people would be inspired :D

Anyway...just a thought.

EDIT: here's a solution...let me know what you think...

There will be a total of 4 challenges available per week (not including special challenges). Of those four, paying members may enter two total challenges -- Either two advanced, two basic, or one advanced and one basic...and non-paying members can only enter one of the two basic...sound good?

speak for yourself. But yes I do agree that 2 per week is nice.

I don't think there's been an official decision to have two but I think a lot of us are in favor of it.

I do basic, I do members...I would do The fat lady on the curb looking for quarters if she had a contest.

/contest slut.

Edit to add, I'd love to see 2 members challenges a week as well.

as i prefer basic editing challenges, i would rather have 2 open challenges of each flavor and 2 member challenges of each flavor.

Do you mean an open basic and advanced and a member basic and advanced?

I can see some logic in that, but for me personally, I have a hard enough time trying to keep which challenge is which editing straight. :)

considering the 'members' pay a yearly fee and the 'others' don't, i think it only logical that we get as many or more topic options per week as the 'others'....

in a business sense - keep the 'customers' happy - let the tire kickers mull through 500+ entries. oddly enough it will likely be a lucrative decision.

Following that argument, if there WERE two members challenges a week they should NOT be exclusive. However, since we do get advanced editing and the open challenges are not, I would have to say reading the current arguments, leave it alone!

I'm in favor of two member advance editing challenges per week. Call me crazy but I thought that's how it always was. I think we should be providing more incentive to become a member not less.

I would like to see two Exclusive Members challenge that started on the same night, Sunday, not staggered like it was this past week. You can enter one of the two and you can enter one of the two Exclusive Open challenges on Tuesday.

Personally when we have more than four challenges in the submitting or voting stage to me it becomes overwhelming.

One of the potential problems with regularly having two Member challenges every week is that, if there are always four challenges already scheduled, it makes it a lot harder to schedule speed challenges or other special challenges.

I think it works pretty well the way it has been lately, with an occasional "extra" member challenge thrown in if there's nothing else going on. I think having to vote on 5 or 6 challenges every week might dilute people's "voting energy," and runs the risk of cutting down on the total number (and maybe quality?) of comments.

I realize the whole reason we went to two open challenges per week was because a lot of people were entering those challenges when there was just one basic...and I fought for that...but now I just feel like paying members don't get as much of a benefit to join and become paying members as they used to...

Heck...for free, a member can just join up, have their choice of two challenges to enter each week...and then if they pay money to join, they get one extra challenge thrown in that they might not even like for weeks at a time...

OK...here's a solution...

I'll post this on the initial post also so that people read it...

There will be a total of 4 challenges available per week (not including special challenges). Of those four, paying members may enter two total challenges -- Either two advanced, two basic, or one advanced and one basic...and non-paying members can only enter one of the two basic...sound good?
