Sex also but it doesn't cost as much.
I am glad you didn't finance it. If I win the lotto I will send some money your way. I guess I need to play first though.

Thanks for the input, everybody. All of your opinions (except for Rex's sex addiction) have helped! :)
I was definitely leaning towards upgrading to the 30d, given this rare and interesting opportunity, and now I'm surely going to do it.
I know I should wait until (if) the insurance company cuts me a check, but I don't think I can...

I might have the same addiction but I refuse to admit that I might :-)

As someone with both cameras, the 30D wins. :-) Spot metering, super fast startup, fractional ISOs of course the super large LCD, but wheretheheck is Adobe Camera Raw? Stuck with DPP for now. Playing hell with my workflow since I don't know it. |

I have a new in the box 30D - a spare (don't ask me how I did that)
body only
$1350
If you have lenses, why get a kit with a lens?
if you need a lens, the tamron SP 24-135 is better than either option you mentioned and less expensive than the 17-85

I'm trying, thanks! the other thing I like is the ability to buffer 11 in RAW, that's way better than the 20D (for an action photographer.)
