Most expensive piece of equipment you ever broke? Dropped my first 80-200 2.8 VR lens, $1700. It was totaled and it taught me a valauble lesson about insurance.
What's your most embarassing photography blunder?Dropping that lens at a portrait session

Did you study any of "The Arts" in Highschool?Took two semesters of photography

What's your source of inspiration?seeing a stranger look at a shot of mine and say "wow, that's amazing. Do you know who took it?" Then I just sit back and say no, so you?

My girlfriend upgraded her film camera (Rebel 2000) to a 10D about 2-3 years ago and I started messing around with her old film camera.
If you could change something about you (not physical) what would it be?

If I could change something about myself, it would be to learn that it's ok to say no! I love the fact that I'm willing to help people out and that I truly want everyone to be happy....but there have been times in my life when my desire for those things has outweighed what's good for ME. So, I guess to be more assertive about what I need sometimes.
Followed closely by wishing I had a bachelor's degree already! :-)
Do you play any musical instruments? If not, what would you LIKE to play? |

always had an artistic bent / could never draw a straight line though ;)
or get things as i imagined them if i painted - once digial arrived - it was meant for me ..
change ? not a thing - i feel i'm at continouosly getting better and listing my personal accomplishments - would embarass the 6th grade teache who thought i was "developmentally disabled" (she was an idiot)
and any changes i would make would mess things down the time line --
(if i din;t drop out of engineering (1st time) or had a first wife or .. ..) (damn i cant spell)

do you subscribe to a style of photography or do you do your own 'stuff' ?

I played clarinet in elementary and middle school. Always wanted to learn piano, but haven't gotten there yet. Maybe someday....
Why does photography make you smile?

I can play the piano a little bit. Unfortunately I don't have one.
Edit:
Oops, I was too late, idnic. Didn't saw your question. Photography makes me smile, because photography kind of changed my life in a positive way when I was having a hard time. It's a good way for me to express my feelings and it really helped me to enjoy the good things of life again.

yes I'm addicted... I spend 16 hours a day either photographing, postprocessing, or looking at other people photos, and I've spent about $20.000 on gear in the past 3 years.

Someone stole my gas grill out of my yard, and the store I managed was robbed in the middle of the night, and the alarm company called me.
Have you ever robbed someone?

Have you ever robbed someone?
Yes. I'm proud to say I robbed Frankie Rodriguez of a base hit in high school with a diving catch. Frankie Rodriguez was drafted in the second round by the Boston Red Sox and made it to the big leagues and played for a few years with the Sox, Twins and Reds.
Who are you?
I'm yanko? :P

Yeah.....one wishes I wasn't even born, so their wish is not for me to be seen but to hide away....and the other just wants me to be happy.
Oops...forgot to add my question.

Where is the one place you'd like most to visit?
most of Europe. when I was younger I fell for the propaganda from the military about world travel which turned out to be nothing but third world countrys. it seems to have so much more character than america.

I truly enjoy a good landscape infiltrated with a bystander who gives it perspective and a personal touch to make us as viewers put ourselves in their "shoes".
How would you describe photography: Easy, Learned, Gained, Experienced, Shared, Natural, Artistic or Crap?

Woods for sure (free firewood!). Ticks are a bugger, but you get used to em. ;^)
Question: Do you take more studio/set shots for DPChallenge entries or do you look for natural settings?

Had to go back and look at my portfolio.. I'm sort of half and half. Although I really prefer more 'natural' settings, I've been trying to play around with lighting, so I've taken a number of shots in my pseudo-studio lately.
