Has anyone thought of doing a learning thread on sharpening? Personally I need to sharpen my sharpening skills...
Should a person sharpen again after resizing an image for the web, for posting here or entering challenges?
Should you do most of your sharpening in the camera software or leave it at the min and sharpen in your image editing software?

I use unsharp mask in Photoshop. I sharpen after resizing to the final size. I also sharpen in small increments...not all at once.
Hope this helps. |

There are already lots of threads on "how much USM" and "what is USM" and so on.
I highly recommend sharpening in post-processing where you can control and undo your actions -- once the camera's applied its algorithms there's not much you can do to undo it.
You should always apply any sharpening as the very last step, after the images has been completely edited and resized to its final dimensions, as the effects of USM are dependent on both the image dimensions and the color differences present.
