Pretty sure it's an osprey.. I have a better shot of the bird but not as good a one of it with it's catch. Of course, in the past I have identified a goose as a swan. (grin) Thanks very much .. mac

No, I don't believe that is an Osprey. It's a hawk of some type, probably a Red Shoulder Hawk. Where was it?

If you're talking about the shot in your portfolio, it's not an osprey. They have white underparts.

I dont think its an Osprey but its not a Red tail or Red Shouldered either IMO. notice the shape of the wing on the end, it comes to a point where a Red Tail or shouldered would be more flat. It could just be the way its flying right at that second though.

Alright, now I'm on a mission. I've got a foldable guide to Local Birds of South Florida unfolded on the desk. I'm scrutinizing the Nothern Harrier as the most likely suspect now. I'll look up more pics on the internet.

The second pic that you show just doesn't have enough white on it for an Osprey (IMO). So far, the profile shot of the Northern Harrier looks most like both pics.

My first guess would be a northern Harrier.Then a Swainson`s or Red-shouldered Hawk.

the bird appeared white and black to me but i was quite a distance from it..here is another shot

After seeing this picture I am almost sure it is a Nortern Harrier. It has a white rump patch and owl-like facial disk.
