//www.canon.ca/english/index-customersupport.asp
Link from Canon Canada Customer Service site says, "Please note that support from this site is available for Canon products purchased in Canada only."
But that doesn't mean you can't get service anywhere in Canada....so, the answer is I don't know.
Personally, I prefer to purchase equipment from my local camera store. Not only does it support the economy where I live, I also receive top-notch customer service. If anything goes wrong with my camera, it's the store that deals with Canon and packages my equipment up...they may even offer me a loaner while I wait for repairs. Something to think about if you have a store near you. |

You should be able to.
Hitcamera.ca only sells US products. A friend of mine bought one and hasn't had any problems with it.
edit to add: aside from cleaning what more would you need??? It a canon not a nikon. :D

If you actually go to the store you might be able to get it cheaper. Wait until you find out about duty. |

Yeah, the 30D is the replacement. You can still find 20D's out there. lots of them - there was a rebate, not sure if there still is.
drive to the US, buy one and drive back. No duty.

You are indeed right, but rest reassured that you will be required to pay both the PST and GST on the total amount of the purchase, namely the cost of the item, state taxes paid, plus any cost of shipping incurred.

Technically that's true about the GST (we Albertans don't know anything about PST ;)). I've never had to pay the GST when i've ordered gear from the US...i'm not sure that it gets reported at the border. With the US dollar so low now I think you could pay state taxes, GST AND PST and still end up with a better deal.
having said all that i bought my D200 and all of my lenses from a Canadian retailer. I believe in supporting local businesses and I LOVE having the ability to walk to the store and get a loaner if something goes wrong while the warranty fixes my problems (wood....get me some wood to knock on...no problems so far...)

ya, there is no PST to Albertans. but We pay 15% in Ontario.
How much taxes applied if I buy in State of New York?
The cheapest price of 20D in Toronto I can find is 1300+tax= 1495 which is more expensive than a 30D in HK, why?? Is the camera selling in Canada better than the HK version? I don't think so~~~
I do wanna support local economy, but I also feel the pain of paying extra 15%... it's not a small money for me!! :( |
