You may be right Gen, but I've found that voting doesn't swing too much in the later stages of the voting, so I'd be somewhat surprised if dropping a truly "random" group from a random group would cause a huge jump in a vote.

On the other hand, dropping a small fraction of very low voters from an image will cause a significant jump.

Nonetheless, your point is that the actual "troll" slice is small and so is mine. But they CAN have a small effect if their numbers are strong enough.

I personally can't understand why someone would come back week after week to vote down challenges, it must get boring after a while...

I would have to disagree with your premise in this instance. The mere fact that you as an individual consider a subject to be "shitty" does not equate to the image being "shitty.

What you are showing here is your preferences... which are not to be confused with the quality of the image.

Too many times we see quality images being downgraded simply because they do not fall into the acceptable realm of the general populace. There are absolutely horrifying images taken during armed conflicts that would absolutely "tank' in this realm, simply because the masses would find them too graphic.... that however does not negate the fact that they indeed are captivating quality images.

Your vote is exactly that........Your vote. However, we should not confuse personal preferences with image quality... they are not the same.

Just a thought

Ray

Quality of image will not sell an 8x10 framed and matted image of a turd...

Sure it could, just depends on your customer. Your looking at this very narrow perpective. When judging photos you should be objective and rate the photo on it's merits.

Mine dropped quite a lot in only 4 votes as well.

Just hit me badly too, but look on the bright side at least they are scoring it evenly across the board :)

yeah i'm trying to figure out if they really know math at all. a low ball score on a decent image won't do much. kinda like a mosquito that just buzzes around your ear ;)

I bet there would be far fewer trolls if they were required to give a comment with their vote of 1.

Usually the images that I vote 1 are so bad they are beyond comment. Some, I wish I could vote 0.

Why not just require all votes to have comments?

Because I, for one, will not be leaving 400+ comments on a challenge just to get my vote to count! If that were the case, even 30% of the challenge would seem so insurmountable that I would not even bother trying to vote comment. DPChallenge would have RSI injury cases galore! lol

One thing I'd like to know is when did this vote cleaning start? I'm quite surprised that most of the recent blue ribbons have almost no low votes, compared with a few months ago when everyone got ones.

FWIW, my blue ribbon (with no 3's, 2's or 1's) actually LOST a tenth of a point in rollover when 16 votes were cast out. It was well over 7.5 just before rollover...

Robt.

I reckon Bear knows all the trolls - hence the lack of 1,2 or 3 votes. Give them up!

When you see votes on an image and main votes are in the 5+ range, then you see those votes of 1,2,3,& 4's on that great image.

THOSE are trolls...

Well, I'd call that a difference of opinion. I, for one, don't believe in trolls.
