I have canon dig rebel. When taking pictures it locked up. So my last photo is half photo half solid black. I changed lenses, so not that.
The camer turns on but I see black in view finder.
Please help. I need the camera right away. (I am so going to get a backup now) Terrible way to learn my lesson. :( |

Eh, this happened to one of our photo dept. Rebels when I was using it. It would still take pics after, but they were all half to 3/4 black. The shutter was broken and had to be repaired.
Hope that isn't what you're up against, but it sorta' sounds like it...

Not the battery.
It is the shutter (I think) I decided to mess with it and flipped the little "thing" inside and I was able to actually see now thru the view finder. But when I take a picture it is half solid black. |

Update:
I talked to a guy at Canon and he said the shutter is broke and I need to send it in. Stinks!
So I am ordering a Rebel XT right now so I have something for this weekend. The Canon guy said that the XT is basically the 20D in a rebel's body so I hope he knows what he is talking about. I would think he would since he works there and has all the specs. |

Wow... I certainly hope he didn't blatently lie to you like that. The XT is certainly not the 20d.
The Rebel XT is by no means a bad camera but it's not a 20D by a longshot.
Either way, sorry to hear about your crash. I fear the day that something breaks on my D100 (then again, can't argue with a good excuse to upgrade).
