Um... that sort of negates the "had to be out in a bad snowstorm" part.

Glad to hear there is at least one good driver on the interstates these days. :P

Congrats on a terrific bit of driving, there are not many people have the presence of mind to keep their cool in radically unexpected and unpredictable circumstances. That will serve you well on many occasions during your married life. :0

I hope you have many decades with your loving wife to be.

Jason, I am so happy you are OK. Thank God, indeed! And thank your fine driving abilities, too. May you never need to use them to that extent again!

Congratulations and all the best in the new life the two of you have ahead of you.

I too hope to have many decades ahead together as well....

:)

One friend said "Godspeed" and I replied, no, in this case it was "Godswerve"

Yes our IQ shoots up in such situations. I could say that at least some moments of my life was smart.

Jason,

It's great to know that all worked out well. Your description is one of the first things I learned in driver's ed, and I still remember to this day:

"IPDE"
Identify (the situation)
Predict (what could happen)
Decide (what you are going to do)
Execute (your plan)

It's amazing how quickly the human mind can process those four steps.

I know exactly how you feel. I've had a few close calls myself driving to a from work, usually when the road is icy. I had one instance where I (well, it was my hands on the wheel anyway) maneuvered between two tractor trailers that had just squished a car into the guardrail when they started sliding around while avoiding the oncoming semi that slid past me into the median, going what seemed to be 50mph and all 18 wheels locked. I somehow emerged totally unscathed.

Then I went back home to hug my family and change my underpants.

Glad to hear it all turned out ok, Jason! Maybe you should consider a career in auto racing. ...on second thought "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God"

Congrats on the wedding!

Glad you made it through that, regardless of whether by divine intervention or your own driving skills. I've noticed these things seem to happen in clusters -- I'd be extra careful the next couple of days as well!

Theodore Sturgeon wrote an excellent story concerning this just phenomenon called The [Widget], The [Wadget], and Boff, most often found in his anthology Aliens 4, in which this process occurs at "Synapse Beta sub-Sixteen" -- check it out.

oh. some good spirits are floating over you :-)

BTW: it was 6.11.2003. ... me and my friends were going home after work, we have about 65 km to home, it was dark and rainy, after entering the highway me as codriver and friend in the back fell asleep while mr. D was driving not fast at all, around 100kmph, on 15th km he saw police light on the right side of the highway but he didnt see the van on the left track in the darkness because the police light were flashing wery hard and they were parked across the van :-S instead 200m before the accident ... and we crashed, i was not wearing the seatbelt :-|, the fact that i was asleep was probably saved my life coz i was unaware what will happen and just bounced, the driver mr. D was badly injured with his are practicaly ripped off, and mr. B at the back seat ended up with broken face bone ... mr. D is still on sickleave :-(, we 2 were 7 days in hospital na 72 days at home.
the police was obviously guilty for our accident but we never proved it, !#$%&#%
we are all happy to be alive :-|

Nice to hear you made it through that ok. Back in October I hit a deer going 60 mph without hitting the brakes. The buck just flew out onto the road and luckily for me he didn't get quite in front of me otherwise it would have gone clear through the windshield. Damn airbag didn't even deploy.

You might want to take a listen to "Jesus Take the Wheel" by Carrie Underwood.

Congrats on staying alive.

Happy to hear that you made it through that horrifying ordeal unscathed. Your quick reflexes not only saved your own life, but possibly the life (or lives) of anyone in that other vehicle as well. You are a hero in my books.

Whew, glad you're OK! That must've got the adrenaline flowing.

God was very good....not only did he save my life, but he treated me to a winning Padres game on opening day on a 67" 1080P television immediately afterwards. Now mind you, I live in Connecticut just east of NYC. I am probably the ONLY San Diego Padres fan in the entire state.

God was very kind to me...

Writing is something I'd like to do when I semi-retire. I'd love to basically support myself via writing, photography and a bit of dj'ing & light/sound production.

Actually, I just won $40 for my story SOCRATES from this site:

That's quite a story, Jason. I have had similar "encounters" a couple times, but I won't bother laying 'em out here :-) I'm glad you made it through unscathed.

Jason,

Glad to hear that you are alive, well, and still with us. Every heartbeat and every breath is a gift from God. It's the best way to live, and the way I want to live.

Thanks for sharing your story and witness, and we'll look forward to being blessed by interesting and wonderful images from you.
