I don't think I'm going to be able to come. :(
I have a Scout event at FermiLab that day.

Is this just going to be a one day deal, or will people be getting together on Friday and/or Sunday?

So out of curiosity, because this will be my first GTG that I've joined, what equipment is everyone lugging around??? Lenses?? Tripod??

Also, has a time been set yet? Guess maybe it's too early yet for that, just wondering cuz I'm going to catch the Metra electric line up to Van Buren and need an idea what time to head out.

Right now it is a one day deal that I am planning, but maybe others that are coming from farther away are open for longer, can't speak for them though. I do know that there was talk of trying to plan another one in mid August aslo.

Yes, no time set just yet. I am open to suggestions. Soon as we get one I will post it in the top post. Haven't even thought of equiptment (my first gtg too), although probably no sense in bringing 15 tripods, maybe just a few and we could all help carry...just a thought.

carry little, The newbie is supposed to carry all the others equipment and dust off lenses for the first 1/2 of the day...at least that's what they made me do on my first one...hummm wonder how true that is? Just kidding, I would take as little as possible, maybe just a monopod if you have one and people can maybe share tripods.

Have fun all everyone, I hope the weather holds out for you.

Funny - I just dug out the thread for last years gtg and I was going to pm the folks that I saw in that thread that had yet to chime in here, and you were one of them.

I will send a reminder the weekend before the gtg to get a last head count.

In the off chance that gasoline happens to drop below 2 bucks a gallon, I will be there. Don't hold your breath though! If I hadn't already commited to the April 29th Michigan GTG, this would have been a shoe in, but can't afford two road trips inna week... :-(

Ewww, I may be the official 'old timer' of this group. Doesn't matter though, I promise to keep up with y'all. Means I'll definitely pack light! I have a monopod, but really haven't been liking it. I have a new tripod that I really love, but may be too heavy to lug around; will have to think about that. What about lenses? Probably my 18-70mm and maybe something up to 300mm??? Ideas anyone?

I think I can safely assume I'm not the newbie of the group so I won't have to lug around everyone's equipment and clean all the lenses! LOL!

Well - I may be the newbie of the group, but since I am organizing, I am deeming myself exempt! So there!

At anyrate, please double check the top thread to make sure your name is there. I would not want the reminder that I send out to miss anyone. And just encase, I will send it to the yes and the maybe list.

Cheers,

Maya

Bump - ok, you are gonna get sick of me, since I am about to bump this all weekend long, seeing as that we are about to be at the two week window.

Any more takers???

I am excited about it and looking forward. Do we have the itinerary yet?
04/21/2006 03:40:51 PM · #44
Not a firm one yet. This is the loose one. I guess we can see who has strong opinions about doing what, because it might be a lot to fit in. I am pretty open myself, I just want to get out take pics, and hopefully learn from all of the vets in the group:-)

I don't have any preference either. I am just excited for my first photography expedition, and hopping to learn a lot from the best.

Ohh, too bad, I have something to do the whole afternoon and evening. I suggest the Lincoln Park Zoo and neighboring Lincoln Park Conservatory and the lagoon near the Nature Museum. I was just there today (Saturday 4/22), there was a lot of wildlife - red-winged blackbirds, common grackles, mallards, geese, turtles, goldfish (dying) and ... the beautiful wood ducks (!) breeding.

Come on guys, where are you....?

flip89 - I have removed you from the "yes" list :-(

I am so excited about May 6th now that things are finally showing signs of life around the city. Here are a few pics I took recently.

Maya those shots are wonderful. I particularly love the nightime skyline shot. The exposure is perfect and the image tack sharp. (It does need a slight rotation - you can see it on the waterline)

The "Green and Yellow" image is another one that is just terrific! what a unique skyline perspective you have captured here. Where was it taken?

I'm still planning to come down for this one. I'll be driving in from Madison and parking at an L stop in Rosemont and then riding the train down. If anyone in south central Wisconsin wants to carpool, send me a PM.
