Stepping down will cause vignetting. Filter, wideangle, tele?

It has a step ring on it that says S7/52 what is S7? is that a metric size?

I have 2 adapters for my camera a 52mm and a 58mm. It fits fine on the 52 but im just trying to learn how it works so ill know.

Thanks.

Do what I did with my Sony camera - call B&H toll free, tell em you need a ring that steps from 58 to 46. Will take them about 2 seconds to find the right one and you'll have it in a few days.

S7 most likely stands for "Series 7" which is an old non-metric size.
