Portaflash STUDIO KIT 2 Kit

Evening all - I have real problems getting a good White on White photo, my white background come out a light gray unless I over expose the photo... So I thinking of getting the kit (see above link) .. Is it any good - It will just be used for Still life and the odd portrait .. at the moment to get anything near white I have to set the K balance to 2800K

Thanks for any input..

I am not sure about the kit but what color are the walls in the room that you are trying to photograph something?

I noticed if I was in a peach colored room my photo always came out with a peach tint. You can help this by selecting different white balance options. I find that tungsten works best.

Throw 2 stops more light onto your background (i.e. you need a background strobe) and you'll be able to turn it white without over exposing the subject.

Tony,

I'm thinking of getting something similar (or that exact kit possibly), and am curious how it would be. I think you should buy it and let me know. :-)

Cheers

Jamie

regardless of the light source, I have found using custom white balance and shooting a 18% gray card that whites come out white and blacks come out blacks and all colors in between appear correct. Try this before spending the moeny on lights. You can print a 20% gray card in Word which is what I use and it solves the problem.
