Help! I don't remember what kind of camera I had in 2002. I have a about 50 images though, and the exif looks okay.
However, more than half are in ".TIF" format (named like DSCF0001.TIF). I know I had to use special software to view these & convert them to JPGS. WIndows Explorer and Photoshop are acting like they've never seen this format before.
Does anyone have any idea what camera this might have been, or how to possibly convert the files into something I can see?
Many thanks! |

The EXIF alomost always has the camera manufacturer (and usually the model) listed somewhere. |

Thanks. Weird, but this one doesn't mention the camera. HOWEVER, I did solve problem: my Canon FileUtility converts them to jpgs for me - how nice! |

Spoke too soon. I get "an unsupported image format" message and then the files are simply copied rather than saved in a different format.
ANy help would be gratefully received, particularly as I'd like to have these in the long term. |

Judi & GeneralE - thanks! My Canon utility wasn't showing me the camera, but I was able to bring some jpegs into Photoshop & they clearly show me a Sony.
I'm off now to find a conversion utility - knowing the camera makes that easier! |

Whoohoo, I'm in! I got my first digital cam late in 2002, but early 2003 my computer was stolen, just before I got around to backing up everything on CD. I had copies of a few originals on another computer, so I'll have to choose from that... |

I have quite a fewfrom when i had my Sony F828 and my minolta dimage 7i but the problem is that i had a HDD crash (i was silly enough to be using windows) and I recovered my pics but no exif at all so that puts pay to that... good luck all who enter, I have some great shots from that bygone era (all in B&W of cause)

Did they fix the dates so we can put in the correct shot date yet? I have mine with the wrong date and I want to change it, but I don't want the system to throw mine out and make me reenter everything!

No comment. ;-P
2002 was before any of us had the benefit of a DPC education. Consider this the "What I managed to get by accident with the camera set on Auto" challenge. |
